APWU Joins Picket Line Supporting Las Vegas Hotel Workers
October 13, 2016
On Oct. 13, hundreds of union members and allies – including the APWU – walked a picket line in front of the Trump International Hotel in Washington, DC, (at the former Old Post Office Building) in support of workers at Trump’s hotel in Las Vegas. Trump refuses to negotiate with workers at the Las Vegas site.
Last December, the workers voted to join the Culinary Workers Union, and the union was certified as the collective bargaining agent on their behalf. In July, the National Labor Relations Board affirmed that certification.
However, Trump has refused to sit down and bargain with the union, despite the requirement under federal law to do so.
