APWU Members Urged to Contribute to CFC
September 18, 2009
APWU members are being encouraged by President William Burrus to sign up to contribute to the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) during its enrollment campaign this fall, and to designate as recipients charitable organizations that make differences in the lives of working families.
“Postal and federal employees play an important role in American life — processing and delivering mail, keeping travelers safe, and giving vital support to the elderly and disabled,” Burrus said in a letter to APWU members that was co-signed by Human Relations Director Sue Carney. “Hard-working postal and federal employees make our country better in hundreds of ways every day.”
Already good citizens through their volunteer activities in thousands of communities, Burrus noted, postal workers can make our neighborhoods and our nation stronger by contributing to the CFC.
“I invite you to select specific organizations such as the Postal Employees Relief Fund, the United Way, or other charities to receive your contribution.
“Whatever choice you make,” Burrus said, “I urge you to participate in the 2009 Combined Federal Campaign as a way to support essential services in your community.”
