Guffey Elected Vice President of AFL-CIO

APWU President Cliff Guffey was unanimously elected as a vice president of the AFL-CIO at a meeting of the organization’s Executive Council on April 13. As a vice president, Guffey will serve on the council.

The AFL-CIO is the nation’s premier labor federation, dedicated to improving the lives of America’s working families. The organization’s mission is to bring economic justice to the workplace and social justice to the nation.

It is composed of 56 national and international unions; the three top officers and 52 vice presidents make up the Executive Council, which guides the federation’s daily work.

Lawrence Hanley, the new president of Amalgamated Transit Union, also was elected to the Executive Council.
