In Memory: Rick Logan

Richard H. Logan, National Business Agent for the Maintenance Craft, passed away on Dec. 5. He was 59.
Logan was a member of the Providence (RI) Area Local and was an outspoken advocate for the rights of his co-workers.
“We are deeply saddened by Rick’s death,” said APWU President Mark Dimondstein. “Our hearts go out to his family.”
Northeast Region Coordinator John Dirzius said, “Rick was liked by all who had the honor and pleasure to know him. He worked tirelessly representing our Maintenance members and was an excellent arbitration advocate. His efforts, his smile, and his laugh will be missed by all.”
"Whether union member or management, all greatly respected Rick Logan's efforts on behalf of the APWU membership," said Maintenance Division Director Steven Raymer. "Rick set an example of union representation we should all strive to follow."
Logan began his postal career in 1986 and held many union positions in the Providence Local. He served as executive vice president from 2003-2006, and was elected president of the local in 2006. In 2007, he was elected National Business Agent in the Northeast Region, a position he held until his death.
Logan is survived by his wife, Christina, his mother, Marcia Logan, three daughters, two sons, three sisters and a granddaughter.
Calling hours will be held on Dec. 10 from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway Newport, RI. A service of Remembrance will be held immediately following calling hours. The burial will be private.
