National Reassessment Workshop Added to All-Craft Conference
August 13, 2009
The APWU will add a workshop on the National Reassessment Process to the list of classes offered at the All-Craft Conference, APWU Human Relations Director Susan Carney has announced. “Our goal is to educate union activists about how to confront the Postal Service’s latest attempts to harass, intimidate, and coerce limited-duty and ‘rehab’ employees,” she said.
The USPS recently launched a new version of the National Reassessment Process, known as NRP Limited Duty, Carney said. Limited-duty employees, along with rehab employees who have not been subjected to the earlier, ongoing version of the program, are expected to be affected by the new procedures.
The NRP Workshop will be held on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The class will review the original program (NRP-MMI) and outline features of the new program. Grievance handling, OWCP regulations and procedures, as well as other mechanisms that are available to protect the rights and benefits of injured workers will be discussed.
Participants in the All-Craft Conference who wish to revise their workshop selections in order to attend the NRP class must complete a special registration form. New confirmation letters will be mailed Sept. 2, 2009, to registrants whose requests have been accepted. Registrants who do not receive updated confirmation letters should attend the workshops they originally selected.
Other requests to revise conference registrations and workshop selections must be made by calling the APWU Event Coordinator at 202-216-2655.
APWU members — including those who wish to attend the NRP workshop — who have not yet signed-up for the All-Craft Conference, must register and select workshops online. Registrations will be accepted until Sept. 1, 2009. Workshops may be closed before the deadline if class-size limits are reached.
Union members who wish to review their workshop selections, should visit the Members Only section at www.apwu.org and select My Local & Personal Info.
(Editor's note, Sept. 2, 2009: registration for the All-Craft Conference is now closed.
